No matter what you build your website for, blogging, sharing your portfolio, promoting a business, or something entirely different, having a way for your visitors to contact you can be a key element to your success and a way to ensure the legitimacy of your site. Integrating a contact form into your contact page can be an easy and convenient way to meet this need. Its usually a good idea for your company’s website to include a phone number, and perhaps a physical address, but a contact form will be there for your customers or viewers even after business hours. Setting up a contact form on your site is an easy process that you can complete in a matter of minutes. Check out the step-by-step guide in video or text format below.
The first step you will want to take to get your contact form on your website is to download a contact form plugin. There are many available plugins that serve this purpose, today we will utilize the popular and versatile WPForms Plugin to demonstrate this process. To download this plugin, from your dashboard, click on ‘Plugins’ in the side panel menu on the left.
From the WordPress Plugins Page, click on the ‘Add New’ button.
when you are on The Add Plugins Page, you can enter ‘wpforms’ into the search bar. Once you see the WPForms plugin click on ‘Install Now’.
After you have installed the program, your next step will be to click on the ‘Activate’ button. This will begin the Quick Guide Setup to begin creating your first contact form.
Once within the guide, you will want to scroll down a bit and click on ‘Create Your First Form’.
From there you can now choose a name for your form and click on ‘Create a Simple Contact Form’. As you can see on this page, you also have an option to create a blank form as well as a few other types of forms in the future, should it suit your site.
The next step in the guide gives you a preview as to how your contact form will appear on your webpage. To the left, you are presented with various fields to add to the few that come equipped with the basic contact form. Keep in mind, if you choose to upgrade the plugin, there are many premium features available, such as fancy fields, marketing options, and paments if you choose to upgrade as well.
When you have finished making adjustments to your form, you can then click on the ‘Save’ button.
After saving, click on ‘</>Embed’ to get the shortcode for your form.
Highlight the given shortcode and copy to your clipboard. from there, you can exit the quick guide and return to your admin dashboard.
Click on ‘Pages’ in your side panel menu, and then click on the title of your contact page or the ‘Edit’ button under your Contact Page.
Here you can paste the contact form shortcode into the text field. Once you have properly pasted the shortcode, click the ‘Update’ button to save your changes.
After updating your contact page, click on ‘View Page’.
From here, you will be able to see the changes you have made and view your new contact form. Here is a sample of how it may appear depending on the fields you choose and the theme you have installed.
